The next morning (Monday) we are going to do the Warner brothers tour, go back to hotel to get our luggage then head to Disneyland. I’m trying to figure out the best way to get to DL . We will not be renting a car. I’m leaning towards a car service but not sure about timing. Thinking do the tour at WB at 9 or so and get a car about 1?

For reference, I prefer dark rides to thrill rides. Secret Life of Pets is my favorite attraction at USH.

My son was young when we took him, but obsessed with the movies. He had a blast on it. It was amazing for my husband who is not into super thrill rides and prefers to stay on the ground. I think your judgment on it is harsh especially for younger kids who enjoy it. Not every ride needs to whip you in circles to be enjoyable. Just my opinion and one I think you should have mentioned was just your opinion in the writing for those who might have skipped it because you personally didn’t find it thrilling.

Thanks for sharing your experience–that sounds like a fantastic couple of days at USH!

Really sounds like your only mistake was leaving USH for Disney at 3 pm. Gotta do that drive first thing in the morning or late at night if at all possible. Failing that, before 1 pm. There are always accidents midday–without fail. Two hours at 3 pm doesn’t surprise me in the least, sadly.

We got into the park about 3 pm on Monday Feb 17th. We did KungFu Panda as it had no wait. Then Minion Mayhem. About a 15 minute wait. Then into Harry Potter Land and did the Forbidden Journey. Wow, what a ride. The walk to the ride was amazing. That was about 15 minutes. We ventured into SNL, took some pictures and walked around until our reservations at Toads Cafe at 5pm. After that we got into line for Mario Kart. It took about an hour in line and to get thru the attraction.

We stayed at the Hilton that night and got early entry for Tuesday morning. We were in line about 730 for a 8pm early entry. We walked on Mario Kart and then did it again about 825pm. After 9am, we did Mummy 5 times ( kids loved it) Jurassic park 2 times. Had lunch at Cletus ??? in Simpsons Land at 1130. Went on Studio Tour after that. Back into Harry Potter Land and did the 2 rides there. 25 minutes for Forbidden Journey and 15 minutes for the Rollercoaster. We left park about 3pm to go to Disney. 2 hour drive with Uber as there were a couple of accidents. Uggh.

We are from Canada, would definitely go back to Universal Hollywood and stay at the Hilton. The convience of the park so close to the hotel was nice.

We are going to spend two nights at the Sheraton Universal Hotel & do the late afternoon/evening on arrival day & then rope drop the next, as there is a 2 days for the price of one deal on right now. I haven’t been to USH since 1994 (?!) and my son has never been (though we did UO for a few days once about 10 years ago?). I’m really actually looking forward to it, despite having done USJ in November & deciding that was a one and done for me. But I’m happy to take my kid for his first time to USH. I was surprised that it is such an expensive Uber/Lyft ride from Universal to Disneyland; your comments caused me to look it up and it said $97 for a midday ride today (though I’m writing this on a Saturday). But I think since we are only going one way after our USH days and staying at DLR for the rest of our time, it might be worth it to avoid a car/driving. Anyway, thanks for this article, Tom. It doesn’t seem daunting at all, and I’m looking forward to it!
