It’s very encouraging to hear that Disney have tried to go the extra mile to make the re-theme as best as it could possibly be.

I completely agree with your assessment that Disney should never have got rid of Muppets 3D in the first place. It was a timeless attraction that everyone regardless of age could enjoy.

While I was pleased that they didn’t eradicate the muppets from Hollywood Studios completely and Rock N Roller Coaster was an obvious choice to re-theme, going from a very family friendly attraction to what is regarded as the most intensive rollercoaster in all of Disney World does limit the audience somewhat.

However I also cling to your assessment that if and when the planets align we might still get more muppets in the future. Another olive branch would be to simply green light a full run of the recent special of the show!

On another note Tom are you going to do a write up on the Big Thunder Rail Road refresh? Keen to hear your thoughts on that,

Comment on Lights of Winter at Epcot by Edward Smith https://www.disneytouristblog.com/lights-winter-tribute/comment-page-1/#comment-2503459 Wed, 27 May 2026 08:24:13 +0000 https://www.disneytouristblog.com/?p=10720#comment-2503459 Really interesting read thanks for sharing this perspective! I’ve always felt those seasonal lights and nighttime experiences add a special kind of magic that really defines the parks during the holidays. It’s that same “wow” factor you get from the nighttime spectaculars, just in a different form.

Also really cool hearing your experience with World of Color: Winter Dreams and being part of the Glow virtual choir—that must feel incredibly special, even if it’s a small part. Sounds like an amazing way to connect with something so iconic. Hope your upcoming trip is just as memorable and you get to fully enjoy all the Christmas offerings at DLR!

It’s a typical bait and switch for annual passes and really makes the case to no longer supporting these old theme parks. Disney AP gives 4 parks vs 2 old parks at Universal. The wait times on the other rides do not support a Premier pass and there are plenty of Premier passholders and hotel guests who enjoyed this perk.

We are travelling from the UK so we booked our trip 8 months ago. Whilst I understand rides need to be refurbished, and guest flow can change offerings etc – it is massively disappointing for such a huge change to be just “dropped” on guests with such little warning. Both Disney and Universal need to take this into account much better than they do currently. This isn’t a change that has to be done immediately and presumably they have been considering this for a while. I get the timing, just before the big summer crowds but it does seem quite petty to drop this news now with no warning, when it could have waited until September/early October to be implemented

Mark my words…

Coming from Canada in September and quite sad this is taking away from us. I hate looking forward to something and out of nowhere they take it away, doesn’t feel right, even though I want to believe they’re doing it for the greater good. (Spoiler : it’s never the case, they will somehow make money out of this move)
