I swear the character interaction from the floats was something that I will never forget. We were lucky she had long naps and was in a good mood for the 10:30 PM parade, not everybody can do that, but it was such a game changer.

Still, I liked the the new music, though it is much less memorable than MSEP. things I hated were 1) cramming lots of different movies together instead of give them their own floats 2) too many “new movie” floats being forced on us even though we recognize the superiority of the classics.

I thought many of the whimsical lines of the floats to be extremely charming, but the parade was too short, too fast, too bright, not enough dancers in between. it was mostly just big floats without anything else. Overall, somehow there just felt to be less connection with the characters and parade. We didn’t bother watching the 2nd run. It absolutely lacks the charm of Mainstream Electrical – while still worth seeing once since it’s basically the only show in town

If you disagree you are so caught in nostalgia that your opinion is irrelevant.

They basically “fly” underwater, and I always imagine they’re trying to get up enough speed to do the same thing “Over the Sea.” 🙂

Nostalgia no doubt comes into play with parades and really all things Disney.

I saw Spectro first, then MSEP, Dreamlights, Paint the Night (HKDL), Paint the Night (DL), Starlight.

I would say that MSEP and Paint the Night (both versions) are more or less a tie for my least favorite, with SpectroMagic and Dreamlights tying for favorite, and Starlight in between.

The nostalgic part of that is probably putting Spectro on par with Dreamlights, which wouldn’t happen with more objective rankings.

I never really saw parades as a kid, so the first real parade I watched was PTN. I absolutely adore Paint the Night. Some of my happiest memories are watching that parade with my close friends at Disneyland, and also with my parents at HKDL. I love Dreamlights in Tokyo, and that is definitely far spectacular in terms of quality but Paint the Night will always be so special to me. That joy and excitement of PTN after a long, fun day at the parks to me is something truly special. I was shocked to hear you say you don’t enjoy it quite as much – but perhaps that’s because the first one you really fell in love with was SpectroMagic, which I never got the chance to see!
