oh Rachel, you definitely want to go on a Disney cruise. Wallet-wise I think it’s a better value than a vacation in the parks when you tally resort costs and food, etc. Less competitive and tiring as well. We’ve been on 8 total thus far with kids and grandkids or just as a couple! They’re delightful in so many ways! Just pack earplugs,..

Harry, you might enjoy this recap of an event I attended back in 2015 called “Dixieland at Disneyland” – https://www.disneytouristblog.com/dixieland-disneyland/

My wallet and husband thank you for persuading me I do not wish to go on a Disney cruise.

Because lets be real, the kids don’t care about the perfect photo and would rather just dance with their favorite characters. Low budget to keep the adults out and crowds down sounds perfect. They can go to the new pirates bar to recharge. I’m a little sad we won’t be going this summer to see it, and I hope Disney continues having more indoor dance parties like this (preferably with quieter music).
My only question is whether they left any chairs for the parents to relax? Because these dance parties are like the reverse stroller. Parents sit and relax and recharge while kids burn energy.

the Diamond Horseshoe Review was a musical/comedy stage show that was a first day attraction at the Magic Kingdom. They basically moved it lock, stock and barrel from Frontierland at Disneyland in California, including the inimitable Wally Boag. I was lucky enough to see Wally’s histerical, patter filled performance on December 26th ’71, my first of countless visits to WDW. it’s nice that they are actually attempting to bring back an attraction to that space, however short lived. especially as Frontierland seem to be disappearing rather quickly. No more Tom Sawyer island, Rivers of America with the Indian villages, the fort, no more Mike Fink keelboats, Sam Clemens (Mark Twain) steamboat, canoes, shooting gallery, no more Davy Crockett Coonskin caps and flintlock muskets. All of the 50s and 60s fascination with mid 1800s western culture has been transferred to Marvel comics and Star Wars. it’s sad that a whole genre is just evaporating.

Dance parties are good idea for large areas like the one at HS which was setup as such. Doing pop ups just for the summer is not really Disney’s style. I do understand you can get the same exact food next door but some like the western motif.
